The Talisman by Sir Walter Scott ( c. 1920's)

Check out this sweet vintage hardcover copy of "The Talisman" by Sir Walter Scott, which was printed in 1931 by A.L. Burt Company of New York. Mustard-y yellow in color, the cover has an image of a knight clad in red armor looking out from the ramparts of a castle. The spine of the book is also adorned with a red castle. The book's story centers around a Scottish knight named Kenneth and the scheming and politics that surround him during the Third Crusade.

The Talisman takes place at the end of the Third Crusade, mostly in the camp of the Crusaders in Palestine. Scheming and partisan politics, as well as the illness of King Richard the Lionheart, are placing the Crusade in danger. The main characters are the Scottish knight Kenneth, who is the fictional character of David Earl of Huntingdon, who did in fact return from the third Crusade in 1190, Richard the Lionheart, Saladin, and Edith Plantagenet, a relative of Richard.

Book Condition: Book is in great antique condition! Spine is intact and sturdy! Cover shows light wear, such as some rounded edges along the corners and some light rippling on the top of the spine. Cover and spine is also lightly soiled. All pages are clean and free of writing, except for the first inner blank page, which has a note in pen at the top indicating who the book was given to as a gift. Pages have begun to yellow nicely with age. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
