For sale is an incredible antique school wall map of South America that was manufactured in Chicago, Illinois by A.J. Nystrom & Co. This wonderfully aged map is printed on a canvas material and comes with the original metal bracket which still works and is very easy to mount. Due to the fragile nature of the map, it must be removed from the metal bracket to roll it up and down by hand. Have no fear though, it's very easy to do. The original wooden rod is still attached to the bottom of the chart. This map would look great hanging in your library or study or would serve as a great educational work of art in your child's bedroom!
Additional details:
Measurements (with bracket): Approximately 56.25" Long x 41.5” wide
Circa: 1920's
Item Condition: Good antique condition! Colors remain bold and vivid. As noted above, you will need to roll up/down the map by hand due to its fragile nature. Surface of map has light soilage from years and years of use. Canvas has some normal wear such as wrinkles, bends, frayed edges, light soilage, spotting, etc. The bottom brown canvas material has creasing from being rolled up for many years. On the lower left corner the brown canvas has some tearing and has begun to separate itself from the lower the lower wooden rod for a span of about 4 inches. There is some light liquid staining along the right side of the map as well the lower left corner. Center of map has two cracks in the paper coating, the first starting near Buenos Aires, Argentina and extending downward to the brown canvas material. The other crack runs from near Northern Brazil to Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The canvas material along these minor cracks below remains intact, holding the map together nicely. We tend to think that each of these flaws adds to the overall wonderful antique look of this piece. Please take a gander at the pictures for further details.
